The Black Lives Matter Of African Americans Essay

Everyone has now heard of the term â€Å"Black Lives Matter†. It is a movement that has started in effort to help the oppression of African Americans. It started a few years back after a major incident happened in the United States. Following this incident, the movement has had to become even more dominate because of the senseless killings and mistreatment of African Americans. This unfortunate incident started the movement that is now to help defend of the lives of African Americans. The Black Lives Matter Movement started after the killing of seventeen year old Trayvon Martin. He was shot and killed because a neighborhood watch felt as though he was a threat to the neighborhood. The only weapon was a bag of skittles and a can of tea. George Zimmerman was instructed to stay in his vehicle after he saw someone suspicious walking in the neighborhood. Mr. Zimmerman disregarded what the person from dispatch told him and got out of his vehicle to follow the young teenager. Moments later shots were fired. Zimmerman never denies shooting Trayvon and claimed it was in self-defense. In his defense, he was bleeding from both his nose and the back of his head. At first, there was no arrest made because his story seemed to be legitimate. But then Zimmerman is charged with second degree murder. He turned himself in was later bonded out the same day. Then he enters a written plea and waves his right to appear at his own arraignment.
